Field filler out to start, not finish
Although Shelmerdine does not have several cars built, many engines, equipment or a large full-time crew, he says he’s not that much different from other teams.

“There’s plenty of cars that are field fillers,” Shelmerdine said. “In my book, if you haven’t won in the last five years, you’re a field filler, too. You’re just wasting a whole lot more money than we are.”
