2005 Predictions and Resolutions
Posted By Paul on December 31, 2004
In traversing the blogosphere the last couple of days, I have come to the realization that it is somewhat imperative to include at least a few predictions and resolutions for the coming year.
Alas, my prognostication skills are less than legendary, unless they are legendary for all the wrong reasons. Just ask anyone I have ever competed with in a fantasy sports league!
However, Joe Carter, of the Evangelical Outpost, has made some of the best and most outstanding predictions for 2005 that I have yet, or am likely to, come across, so I simply refer you there for your dose of 2005 conjecture and prognosis.
As for resolutions, well, my history with them has been about as adroit as my futuristic reckoning. I mean, losing weight has been at the top of my list for what, 15 years now, and to those who know me personally, we all know how that has turned out.
Never the less, I’m going to offer up a few resolutions, and hopefully, with some encouragement from some of you, this will be the year that I actually follow thru on some of them.
First on the list again will be the usual loss of weight. I’m not going to set a specific amount to lose, as I always seem to get discouraged by that, but this year, the plain and simple truth has come down to this - lose weight or die. Hold me accountable folks, I need it, seriously. To that end, I would like to be walking 5 miles a day by the end of June, either outdoor walking or treadmill walking.
Second, I want to learn and be able to use/understand php for building websites. I use it now, but I’m just sort of flying by the seat of my pants, I don’t understand it too well.
Third, I want to read at least 12 books from Byron’s reading list. I read a lot of books, usually 4 or 5 a month, but all too often they are ‘easy’ reads, that do nothing to challenge me or to expand my way of thinking. If I read some of the books on Byron’s list, that will be solved.
Fouth, I want to rock n roll all night and party every day. Oh, excuse me, momentary flash back to 1976.
I think that’s good for now. I don’t want to over-do it or anything, you know.
So I’ll just conclude with the prayer that your coming year will be a year of peace, grace, and God’s blessing.
