Update/apology

Thanks to those of you who emailed and let me know that I had mispelled Byron’s name in the link to his site. And my apologies to anyone who tried to click to his site and were unable to because of my mistake.

You’d think that by now I’d know how to spell his name correctly without any typo’s. I’ve certainly signed him (and his various pets)(and my own unique mis-spellings of his name) up for enough things over the years. See, Byron and I have been best friends since we were in high school, back in Roanoke, VA, 30 years ago. (well, actually, Byron was often my only friend, so the best friend part was sort of by default) Starting way back then, I loved to take those little postcard mailers that come in magazines, or that you get packs of as a high school student to get more information about future educational or career opportunities (trust me, that really was the way you signed up for information back in the 70′s) and I’d fill them all out with Byron’s name. Byron usually found that somewhat amusing, but I’m afraid his momma was a little bent when I signed her precious son up to join the Marines! I got to spend some quality time in the school office for that one. (Although, truth be told, it seems like half my high school time was spent in that office for one thing or another. Me and Doc Stone were real pals!) I think, to this day, one of Byron’s long-since deceased cats still gets enrollment offers for various colleges. And maybe, if enough of you ask him, Byron will tell you about the time, not that many years ago, when we were going to meet in Pittsburgh at a sports memorabilia convention; there were thousands of people in the hall and I couldn’t find him (he was busy looking for Darryl Strawberry baseball cards) and the unique way I had him paged. (Note: if he doesn’t tell, I will)

So, as you can see, there really was no excuse for my mis-spelling of his name.
