I also come from one of those non-Lent-observing traditions... but now in the church I pastor we're starting to experiment with it, mostly by letting it influence our Sunday worship. We're a church plant, so many of the people who attend are from backgrounds that *did* celebrate Lent (heavy Lutheran & Catholic populations here), so they're celebrating it anyway.

This year we're looking at various spiritual disciplines & how they can help us clear away the static to hear God more clearly. (Our message series is titled "Can You Hear Me Now?") Last week was fasting, this week is silence, upcoming weeks will include prayer, Bible reading, community, etc.

Anyway, that's about it!
