Day 1 of the NCAA Tournament no comments
Biggest disappointment for me yesterday was the pitiful performance of Pitt. That first half was one of the most pathetic halves I’ve seen in awhile.
Most-fun-to-watch game had to be the West Virginia - Creighton game last night. I love games that come down to the last shot, and it was close the whole way. I think the largest lead either team had in the 2nd half was like 5 points, with the lead changing hands 7 times.
Nostalgic moment of the day had to be seeing Niagara in the tourney for the first time since 1970. I was born near Buffalo, and I still recall when Niagara basketball was big news, with Calvin Murphy on the team. So that made it cool to be reminded of that when I saw the Purple Eagles in the tourney. They played Oklahoma tough for awhile, just not enough there to stay with them for the duration.
In the Sleestack bracket game, hosted by Rob of Orangejack Blog, I ended up 12-4 for the day, not too bad, I guess. I missed the Wis-Mil. win over ‘Bama, Pacific beating Pitt (booo), Texas Tech over UCLA (I never pick a Knight-coached team), and the Utah over UTEP game.
We’ll see how today goes.
