It's hard to argue with "Animal House." That would definitely be in my Final Four, along with "Stripes," "Caddyshack" and the darkhorse pick (isn't there always a lower-seed team nobody expected in the Final Four?) -- "Used Cars," a fairly obscure movie that came out in the early '80s and was directed, believe it or not, by Steven Spielberg.

Comedy usually does not age well, unless it's the slapstick of something like a 3 Stooges (if that's your cup of tea, ya chowderhead!). We like movies more based on our experience when first seeing them, rather than seeing them now and making some type of objective evaluation.

About twenty years ago I saw "Porkies" at a sneak-preview screening, and laughed my head off with the rest of the packed audience. It's a vulgar movie, but at the time it was funny. I agree that not including "Planes ..." was a mistake - best Thanksgiving movie ever, and there are some great Christian themes in there, especially if you can find an edited version that cuts out most of the car rental counter scene.

I did not like how they bracketed the films, but they had to come up with something. My final four: Animal House, Strange Brew, When Harry Met Sally, and Holy Grail. Although it has been ages since I saw it, I'll pick Strange Brew as champ. Good one, eh, two guys guzzling beer!?
