Larry Norman April 8, 1947 – February 24, 2008

The music and ministry of Larry Norman was used mightily by the Lord to reach me and help guide me out of a very dark place many years ago. Today, Larry’s health problems came to an end and he is home with Jesus and doing some serious singing and praising.

And then make sure you watch this video:
I don’t know much about Larry’s family members but I know he’s at peace now and won’t have to suffer ever again. He let the Lord use him and and will humbly hear God say to him, “Well done, my good and faithful servant….enter into the joy of your Lord”. My prayers go out to his family and friends. They are the ones left to long for his company and just 5 more minutes with Larry.
It’s strange. I only saw Larry perform one time in 1972 at Explo ‘72 in Dallas. I could not remember his name for years and never owned one recording of his. Yet, in the last 3 days, thanks to the internet, I was able to search till I found his web site and have watched every single video of him out there. His witnessing and sharing his faith with the audiences is what transfixed me the most. I am so ashamed that I have had so many opportunities to share the Lord with so many that I have came into contact with over my life and chose to let that moment pass by. He sure loved sharing Jesus Christ with everyone who would listen and even the ones who didn’t want to hear.
To just now read that he has went to be with his maker gives me such joy….and fills me with just a tad of envy only because I know he’s home and we’re not yet. He always said he was only visiting this planet.
Larry Norman’s life had a purpose.
Larry Norman 1947 - 2008
I saw Larry in 1994 here in Vancouver BC Canada before I got saved. Tho I have met him since, at that point as a 20 year old non christian I was mystified and deeply moved by this transparent real human being who spoke of Jesus at my level, and sang ‘I hope I see you in heaven’ and spoke of family dysfunction before singing ‘Weight of the World’. I said, “It’s an honor to meet you”. He came close to me with a handshake and said, “It’s an honor to meet you!” This only mystified me more.
I am amazed to realize that God not only used Larry’s music from the ’70’s in the salvation process of a 20 year old in the 90’s, but that he used Larry Norman, the man in the flesh, to plant a seed in my spiritual journey.
Say hi to Jesus, Keith, and Mark for me, Larry. I am sad, but after all you told us long ago that you were only ‘visiting this planet’.
