Jerry Reed 1937-2008

Legendary Georgia musician Jerry Reed passed away over the Labor Day weekend. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Reed began writing music at an early age. Atlanta producer Bill Lowry gave Reed his first music break by releasing Reed's first album. Reed crossed over musical genres and was loved by everyone who knew him. Reed enjoyed success after he moved to Nashville. Reed's fantastic song "Guitar Man" was recorded by Elvis Presley.

    What line first jumps to your mind when you think of Jerry Reed? For me, it’s

    “Named him after a man of the cloth…called him ‘Amos Moses’.”

    The one that came to mind for me istnatly was the openig line:
    “Well, if you’re one of the millions who own one of them gas drinking, piston clinking, air polluting, smoke belching, four wheeled buggies from Detroit City, then pay attention;
    I’m about to sing your song son.”
