Wednesday morning saw my final live draft of the 2006 pre-season. Most of the league must have been doing something else, like working, or whatever, as only 4 of us were actually drafting live.

Inexplicably, 7 QB’s went in the first round and 3 more went in the 2nd, not leaving much on the quarterback cupboard, but leaving plenty of other goodies for the taking.

I’ve already worked out a trade, sending Brunell and Taylor out for Kurt Warner and Mark Clayton. Hopefully that trade will pass league approval and I think this team will be good to go.

Monday night was my next live draft, but because of the storm called Ernesto, the 2-day World of Outlaws event that was to take place on Saturday and Sunday at Tri-City Speedway (where I’m track photographer) got pushed back to Sunday and Monday.

Fortunately, I was able to have Byron fill in for me, and I think he put together a rather nice team for me.

This draft took place at fleaflicker.com and if you haven’t checked that site out, you really ought to. You can easily import your existing league into fleaflicker, and their management tools are great. The draft room is probably the best of any I’ve ever seen.

Just finished my 2nd live draft of the new season. This one wasn’t quite as much fun - no trash talking, no talking at all, really. Some of the picks were just off the wall, leaving good players to drop ridiculously low in the draft, which I guess is good to take advantage of, but it’s just not the same as when you know you are drafting against opponents who did their homework. Obviously, some of the folks here did, but some either didn’t or didn’t know how to pre-rank their players.
